The Imperial Guard was created to protect vital parts of the Empire of Spain, specifically the Imperial Palace in Madrid and the border with France.
Combat use
The Imperial Guard has never really been used in combat, and the only real point where they have seen active fighting, was on January 5th, 1936, where a group of Nationalists Rebels opened fire on them. However, due to the high skill of the guard, the Nationalists were quickly supressed.
However, they did play a major role during the Spanish Civil War, in defending key points of cities and military bases.
