The Iy-262 was a fix-up of the previously created Mig-9, it was made in a contest and only barely won over the Mig-11 prototype.

The Iy-262 won purely by the fact it could have pylons equipped, as well as many kinds of armaments.

Variants

  • Iy-262: Basic aeroplane, mainly used for scouting.
    • Iy-262B: Same aircraft, however it is equipped with 4x 30mm cannons.
      • Iy-262B2 "Stryker": Identical to the Iy-262B, but built as a mercenary jet fighter for the mercenary group "DKZ"
      • Iy-262C: Built on the same model as the B variant, but equipped with rocket hard points, designed to take out infantry.
    • Iy-262E: Has no offensive armament in order to decrease weight, airframe is also lighter, designed as a strike / bomber aircraft.
      • Iy-262E2: Instead of carrying a bombload, it has a 50mm autocannon installed on the front.
      • Iy-262E3: Has 4x 40mm cannons installed, as well as 24 blitz rocket hardpoints, and 2x 500kg mounts on the belly. The E3 is designed as a fighter / strike aircraft.
        • Iy-262E4: Identical to the E3, however it has an upgraded engine, so it can get into the air with heavy loads.
  • Iy-262F: Experimental variant with "Rocket Propulsion", no armament.
  • Iy-262G: Reconnaissance aircraft, radar aircraft.
